The Comfort Zone
The goal of The Comfort Zone at The Gingerbread House is to provide a safe, caring, and restful environment for children who are moderately ill, injured, or recovering from a health problem and would otherwise be prohibited from attending childcare. Regular monitoring by our nurse ensures each child’s comfort and safety. Children eighteen months through five years of age are eligible. Space is limited to five children. Meals, age-appropriate activities, toys and books will be available.

A moderately ill child, (as defined by New York State) is a child whose health status requires a level of care and attention that cannot be accommodated in a childcare setting without the specialized services of a healthcare professional.

Medical Guidelines and Criteria:
• Borderline fever of 101ºF or below
• Skin rash (pending doctor’s approval to return)
• Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)
• Colds (unable to fully participate in daily activities)
• Ear infection

The Gingerbread House reserves the right to ask a family to pick up their child or have their child spend the day in The Comfort Zone. Each child’s situation will be assessed on an individual basis.

Please call The Gingerbread House during normal business hours to speak with the receptionist to verify if space is available for the day. Please do not leave a message.
